necessary in directing its operations.  What we want then is teachers to do the work of instruction. 

I shall have one class each day in some of the Natural Sciences, besides frequent lessons to the school in elocution and lectures &c. to the Normal Class.  But I do not need to enlarge in writing as I expect to be in Boston on Sat. the 28th of Aug. when I should be glad to discuss the Normal School and the work in the State at large - with plans for its development &c.

I leave here Monday the 16th and shall go to Boston via Ogdensburg, Montreal, Portland.  I would be glad to hear from you before leaving here whether I may expect to meet you on the 28th.

I wish we might have one teacher fresh from Normal school, with all the modern notions.
I thank you for allowing the "Board of Education" of the city to nominate two teachers for you.
