I was told at Head Quarters in Washington that the $10. rent "would continue until otherwise ordered" which means that they expect to continue it, but will not bind themselves by definite pledges:  at the same time they wish the Societies to base their operations upon the same expectation.

I am glad to hear that you propose to do so much in the country, and will now designate as places which I wish you to occupy the following, viz:

Farmville, Brunswick Co. - will require one thoroughly good, educated colored man, whom you will have to find in the north.  He can use pupil assistance for primary classes.  People will board the teacher

W. W. Lewis School Brunswick Co.  This is near the North Carolina Line.  Southern teachers who have taught it will continue.  They will need the $10. rental and something more.

Brunswick Co. "Charlie Hope P.O." is a school taught by E.B. Jones is a loyal white Virginian - a young man not strong enough to work on the farm.  I think it will not cost more than $5. per month in addition to the $10. rental.

Hicksford, Greenville Co. on the Petersburg and Weldon Rail road.  This is
