Dear Miss Knowles 

I returned from another trip north yesterday, and find yours of the 13th.  The city will pay you $25. and I will make it up to $30 out of the Peabody.  Nothing is to be collected from pupils.  If I understand you, with this assurance of $30 per month, you will come back and provide the balance of your salary from some other source.  If Misses Barret & Burch or either of them come, the City will pay them $20. each and I will pay $5, making it up to $25 per month.  Then I do not doubt but I can find some Society to make them up a fair salary if the Bapt. H.M. will not.
