Wm. A. Thompson

Yours of the 21st recd. The Bureau has no books and maps. The only thing I can do for you is to buy them for you, when you send the money. Or I can get them at the above sale price and take the expense out of the rent which I propose to allow you, if you so direct me.

I am going to allow you $10. per month from Sept. 1, and you can pay to John Thompson what he demands for the use of his room and retain the rest as a little compensation for your services. You will of course be obliged to sell the books to the people to get back your money.

Yours Truly
R.M. Manly
