Mrs. J.S. Lowell

Dear Madam:

I have just recd Capt. Schaeffer's Inspection Report from So. West. Va. Also yours of the 23d. He reports that both Marion and Abingdon are very anxious about their schools, and looking to you for teachers. May I not notify Capt. S. that you will send the teachers? The Phil. Friends are waiting to know your intention. Abingdon promises the board of two teachers. Marion has not spoken on that point. Both places prefer colored teachers.

I have written to the Phil. Friends for their official opinion of T.J. Davis, - will forward as soon as recd.

I understand about "Jones" now. E.B. Jones, "Charlie Hope" P.O. Brunswick Co. - a white loyalist of fair attainments, will get along with the $10. you will draw from Govt. and $5. more if you can spare it. I will hope to find places for all of your funds.

Yours Truly
R.M. Manly
Supt.

If Johnson & Owens do not return, the teachers should be sent right along.
