Dear Minnie,

We received your package of pictures. I am very happy to have the "Temple on the Beach", and I enclose the check for $25.00, as promised. Unfortunately, Minnie, that is all I can afford to buy now. I will return the other pictures whenever you say, but I would rather keep them for a while.

If I keep them it is possible, but I can promise nothing, of course, that I may find the opportunity to interest someone in exhibiting them, or possibly trying to sell them for you. I mean I might find an agent that would like to sell your things on a commission. Please do not get your hopes high, as it will be just good luck if I could find someone like that, and I have very little time to spend in looking for someone. But if you will be patient, and trust me, I will take good care of the pictures and try, when I find the opportunity.

Please let me know which you prefer, that I return the pictures to you, or keep them in the hope I can find someone interested. If I keep them, I will return them to you promptly, any time you write that you want them back.

I hope that you are feeling better, and your mother, too. You shouldn't talk of dieing, with your mother still living! You should talk of the work you still have to do. I hope that you have many more years of fruitful living ahead.

Mr. Starr and I both send you love and encouragement.

very sincerely,

Nina H. Starr

P.S. I am going to hang "The Temple on the Beach" in my room, over my bed.
