Dear Sir:

How is the school getting along. I hope the people doing their best to support it. Is the house comfortable; are the repairs complete? If you have not put up the shutters yet, I hope you will not do it until you get everything ready — the fastenings to fasten them back and to fasten them together; for if you should put them up without fastenings, the wind will do more damage with the shutters than the boys would do without them. Call and see me when you come to the city.

Yours truly,
Robt. Abrams

Madam,

I have this day forwarded to your address blank school reports, and request that you forward as soon as possible reports to cover October, November, December.

I return herewith your rental account for quarter ending Dec 31/69, in order that the mark of the Secretary may be witnessed by some one that can write. The account should be in duplicate, additional copy enclosed —

Your school reports should be made promptly at the end of each month, as I am required to verify the rental account by then.

Yours respty

Transcription Notes:
Is E.A. Henry correct? Not "E.M."?; "that can do it" or "that can write"? -- Beth E.A. Henry, 1869: http://www.novahistory.org/FreedmenEducation/FreedmenEducation.htm ... mentioned quite a way down page; best to do search on her name.
