two sets of vouchers for rent of the same premises per month, and one or the other must be disallowed. You had on your desk, when I was in your office, the order on the subject dated "Washington Aug. 14. 69". The language is: "No rental, either directly or indirectly will be paid on buildings owned or rented by the General Government."

Therefore in making out your Rental Acct. at the end of the month on "Educational Form No. 5", Mr. Corey and his teachers cannot be included, nor can Wm A. Thompson, nor can the Portsmouth teachers. The Ebenezer teachers will be entitled to that rental, because no rent is paid on their building.

I think it practicable to arrange so that the Portsmouth teachers may be included also, as follows: The rent which they have paid for Oct & Nov. and which was included in their bill, I propose to pay along with the repairs and not as rent, so that will not be in the way. Then the people or the teachers had better pay the rent ($10.50/100) from Dec. onward. Then you can draw the $20. per mo ($10. for each) —

I will write to Miss Bartlett about this
