They own estimate was that $6,000 would be needed, the first year, to stock the farm, repair the fences, provide agricultural implements and fertilizer, repair the buildings, provide subsistence and clothing for the pupils, subsitence and salaries for teachers, matron, farmer and farm-hands, beds, bedding, furniture and books for the school, &c, &c, and that under vigorous and economical management, $3,000 per annum afterwards might suffice. However, in order to correct my own judgement, if in error, I solicited the opinion of Genl J.C. Armstrong, [[checkmark]] whose experiences are more recent than mine. His estimate is one third higher than mine, and, I have no doubt, nearer correct.

3d  The condition of the proposed lease is such that if the Trustees fail to make good their part of the contract, Viz:  "To educate free of charge not less than 40 colored females in the usual branches &c", the lessor may reenter for default. I cannot doubt but the trustees
