Dear Sir:
You did not give the name of the person who [[strikethrough]] proses [[/strikethrough]] proposes to teach, nor state whether she is colored or white, and I have no means of judging of her qualification. If I am to pay a teacher I ought to know about these matters. The price I could pay must depend also upon the size of the school. The teacher had better commence her school at once and then write a letter with her own hand, telling me how many pupils she has &c.
I pay monthly.
Please state in your reply the exact location of the school and how it can be reached from the Chesapeake & Ohio R.R.
Yours truly,
R.M. Manly

Dear Sir,
To omit the folding doors would not mar the harmony of the building, but would make the first story suitable for only one teacher. Two teachers should never [[strikethrough]] should never [[/strikethrough]] be in one room with 100 scholars. It is best to have the folding doors, then we can have two rooms or one as we please, and the "harmony" will be beautiful when we open them! I am going to Washington next Monday, and shall not be able to visit Lynchburg until the week after.
Yours truly
