Dear Sir: I have received a letter, some time since from Rev. Mr. Alvord, in reference to a school house at Halls Hill. I understand that you will give a piece of land for the house to stand on. Will you inform me the least amount of money which you could along with from the Bureau and build a house about 18 by 24, or 20 x 30 at the largest. How much will the people do?

Please inform me just where Halls Hill is.--how far from Alexandria or Georgetown, and how I could reach the place, if I should wish to visit it-- as I hope to do.

Yours Truly,
R.M. Mauby
