Wm. T. Scott Esq

Dear Sir:

In reply to your note of the 19th inst. I suppose the teacher in your school is in the employ of Philadelphia Friends Soc. If this is so, it is not practicable for me to pay a rent on the building without doing the Society an injury, by hindering it from drawing a certain allowance from the Govt. It cannot get this allowance where schools are in buildings on which rent is paid by the Bureau. But for this I would cheerfully meet your request.
