Miss Emily [[Howland?]]
Yours of the 18th is recd and considered. The case you present has its perplexities. The people have not such a title to the land as the regulations require preliminary to the Bureau's Building, and further, so rapidly has the building and repairing gone on that, with existing pledges, I could not build you a house this school year out of the funds remaining. I think it best to wait until summer, have a lot properly secured and build out of next years funds.
In the mean time, I will, if you desire, expend a limited sum in improving the school room you are in - perhaps enlarging it.
This is the best I can think of. What do you think? If you agree, please say what had better be done and the expense.
Yours Very Respy
