March 4
Octavio R. Mors
Dear Friend: Turn your school at once
into a free school, and I will pay you $15 per
month from March 1st provided you have as you say you
will "more than you can manage"-- only you may
stop receiving scholars when you set just
as many as you manage practically
which I suppose will be from 40 to 50. I hope
have the pleasure of seeing your school in April or
May, and I shall expect to see a good one.
In regard to the past month, the only thing
I can do is to send you the enclosed $5. The
current pay mainly for the name of school: it must
be for the substance.
I have read a letter from Rev. John Lewis desiring Mary Mors (your sister I believe) to teach at Boydton. I hope she will enter upon duties there at once. I have written them the conditions.
As soon as she begins she should write me informing
me of the fact-- the No. of pupils &c -
