My Dear Sir: Causes have delayed my reply to your notes of the 25th & 28th ult. which I will not enumerate. Please start the two schools you name, - Manassas and the Manly school - when you think best (inform me when they begin) and I will pay directly to you the amount $10 each, as long as I have the means.
The spectacle of last Wednesday was one never to be forgotten, and the community is now in recovering from the shock

Dear Sir: Your letter of Apl 29. is rec'd. I am very sorry that Moss disappointed you, for I have no other teachers that I can send at present. I appreciate the importance of the letter received from the committee, and have tried to get a teacher, but there is none about here unemployed. I think I can send you a young man the last of this month.
Yours Truly
