Rev. G.M.P. King

Dear Sir: Your note of the 7th is at hand. I shall be very glad to have your students open schools at Falls Church, Freedman's Village and wherever else they find suitable encouragement, and the Bureau - while the money lasts - will do as heretofore viz: pay $10 per month, provided (as always) the school averages not less than 30 pupils, daily avg. attendance. There are two ways in which the $10 allowance can be drawn. 1st The society (A.B.N.M.) can draw it quarterly from Gen. Howard's office, on Rental Accts., which must be approved by me; or 2d, I can pay it directly to the teacher monthly under the name of rent. The former is not quite so convenient for the teacher, but is, on the whole, the more regular and better way.

The people should be depended upon to board the teacher. I do not know of other place than those above named just now but as the schools close there will be others.

My kindest regards to Miss Howe. I thank you. I should like much to visit your school, if it is as good as Mr. Corey's here.

Very Truly
R. M. Manly
