A.C. Burbank

Dear Sir: In reply to yours of the 12th I will say: I have not seen your sister's school, but Mr. Jones, for whom she has been teaching, has often visited it, and has often spoken to me of her in very high terms. There has been no qualification or discount in his commendation and I believe him to be a good judge.

Mr. Jones made some contract with her in regard to salary. I do not know what it was; but she looks to him wholly for her pay I suppose. I have nothing to do, you know, with the salaries of teachers employed by societies.

Mr. Jones is away from the city for a week, and I do not know what his plans in reference to her for next year are. The Bureau is closing out its operations, and is to retire immediately from the field. My best regards to your wife and daughter.

Yours Truly,
R.M. [[illegible]]
