My Dear Sir
I return herewith the duplicate receipts, as requested in yours.
I observe that Genl. Howard alludes to the "real estate" as the "property of the Trustees." How did they obtain the rights? - What evidence is there of it? - and where can it be found?
I regret to be obliged to trouble you, but I have been unable to ascertain anything of these facts; and representing so important an interest, I am unwilling to be so utterly ignorant, if it may be avoided.
I have concluded a contract to have the building erected, and the Mechanic is already at work. My agreement is in accordance with yours to Miss L. Crocker, of July 3 - to pay as the work progressed, "on bills for labor and materials."
The poverty of our Mechanics renders prompt and frequent payments actually necessary. Please inform me as to the precise form of draft; and the time necessary for payment, after presentation.
I will send plan and copy of contract in a few days.
Very Respfly
A. P. Abell
