This deed made the 15" day of September 1869 between Frederic Miller and Lydia A his wife of the County of Frederick and State of Maryland of the one part and Samuel Rustin Lee Simms, Claiborne Bailey, Joseph Rivers and Matthew Harvey of the County of Loudoun and State of Virginia of the second part: - Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged from the parties of the second part; the said parties of the first part grant unto the aforesaid parties of the Second part and their successors the following property to wit a lot of ground north of the town of [[?]] and near the same bounded on the north by the land Charles Fenton Wenner on the East by the turnpike leading from said town of [[?]] to the Berlin Ferry and on the South and West by the County road lading from said turnpike to Harpersferry containing one acre more or less. In trust for the following purposes and uses and none others. Said trustees of the second part as aforesaid are to hold the said lot of ground and any building that may be erected thereon for the use of all persons of African descent who may desire to use the same for the purpose of acquiring or seeking an education or instruction in the various branches of learning now or which may hereafter be taught in Schools. In the further trust for the use of the Ministers Preachers and members of the colored people belonging to the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States of America in connection with their general conference and the Washington Annual Conference.
