G.3. Sept Ed Va, BRF&AL 1st vol 69 Boydton Va May, 14th 1869 Respectfully returned to Rev R M Manly Supt Ed Dist Va Contract for this room was made out. I think in January last subject to the approval of Capt Ewell at Petersburg Va and the Asst-Com of the Bu. I forwarded the triplicate copies to Capt. Ewell at Petersburg, and have not since heard from the matter, The room was built as I understood, to be leased for school purposes, if such lease would be approved by the proper officer: I gave Mr Moss to understand that I could not contract for buildings, and would not, without the approval of the proper Officers over this District, in charge of those matters. About the Peabody Fund, I told the Brother of the Teacher, that she could get aid from that Fund after reporting her school properly by filling blanks that I had furnished for the purpose. Whether she has ever made a report or not, I do not know. As I have not been in the County but a few days since the 1st of Jan 1869. I did not promise Mr Moss anything except through that contract in case it was approved, and explained it thoroughly to him. I have not seen the building but understand it is a very good. But I know the Teacher to be a good one & she has been teaching I am informed. G W Grahm [[Stamp]] STATE OF VIRGINIA BUREAU OF R.F.&A.L. RECD MAY 21 1869 [[/Stamp]]
