Dear Sir
In reply to yours of the 9th I would say ([[repect?]]) that the Big Oak School closed last of May. I have, there fore, no report to make for June. I taught March, April & May continuously. During those months I made out a new roll of Scholars in attendance each month. In March there were 51 boys & 51 girls = 102. April there were 29 boys & 32 girls = 61. May there were 25 boys & 25 girls = 50

The average number enrolled the three Mos. 71. The daily average attendance I suppose would be about 40 — In April & May the attendance was irregular — those being corn & tobacco planting mos. during wh. the scholars worked as required at their homes.
