Rev. R.M. Manly:-
Dear Sir, Up to the first of July I rec'd from the P.B.A.F.U. Com. Twenty Five (25) Dollars per month. As the school year has closed I do not expect to receive any assistance from them, but shall continue my school upon what little I may receive from the col'd people, which I sometimes Ten (10) Dollars a month, but oftener less.
Circumstances over which have no control render it impossible for me to return North this summer, and rather than be idle, and because I would do good, I desire to continue my school if it can be done.
Hoping that you may be able to continue our rent. I remain, Very Truly,
Chas. W. Mc.Mahon.
