S338. (R.,F., & A. L. Vol 15,) 1869. Norfolk, Va N. 7. Vol 2/69 R.F. and A. L. Va, Nov 24th, 1869: Naval Hospital Stockbridge J. Chaplain U.S.N. Recommending an appropriation to build a school house at Portsmouth Va. States that strenuous efforts are being made to raise money to buy a lot, on which to build a school house. He has been informed that the Bureau has given Dr. Backus reason to expect an appropriation of $1,500.00 for that purpose, but he says this sum is insufficient to construct a school house sufficiently large WRAPPER (1 Enclosures.)
