Gordonsville May 19th

Dear Sir:
In reply to yours of the 18th I can only say, that I learned from Major Masse that the lot on which the school building stands, belongs to the colored people. And I know of no person of whom I could get reliable information, but Major Morse, still at Culpepper, could tell you all about it without doubt.

Will you please forward to me two blanks for monthly reports?

Major Hopkins said two colored men were trustees of the property, one of whom is one of their preachers, but not considered very reliable.
