This place should be supplied at once and a first class school organized and maintained. The school room can be refitted at a very small cost. I understand the building is still rented by the Bureau. A white teacher or teachers can obtain a room and boarding at the House of a respectable colored family. The Sunday School numbers 30 scholars - recently I supplied them with books.
The School at Pleasant Hill Wythe County, I found of no account. Their Teachers incarcerated in the county jail, for offences against the Law. 
At Cedar Hill, Cripple Creek and other places, Wythe County, matters were not properly conducted. These were schools organized under the Superintendency of Genl. Thomas, with the promise of $15. per month to inexperienced Teachers. One or more good small schools might be established at those places, with some expense for School Houses and securing for them properly trained Teachers. 
At Pearisburg, Giles County, the Freedmen have a good House and Lot of their own, with the exception of an indebtedness upon it of $40. for building material. They still have it to furnish with benches and Desks, and respectfully request assistance, in getting them out of Debt, we propose to send them a Teacher, on Monday next. Geo. Wash. Randolph "cold" formerly in charge of school at Green Ridge, Roanoke County; with recommendation to the Friends Association of Philadelphia to adopt this school. At least 30 scholars can be gathered.
