It was thought not advisable to re-open this school the present season, particularly as it cannot well be sustained in that neighborhood during the winter. This School was also assisted by the Friends Freedmen Asso. of Philada. Pa. and had an average attendance of 25 Scholars, with an interesting Sunday School of 30 Scholars. The building owned by the Freed people on leased property.
At Brush Creek, Montgomery County, a school was taught during the past year (in a private house) by Thos A Faulkner "White" (a good teacher) from whom I presume monthly reports were received on the regular printed forms. During the past summer they purchased an acre of land for twenty dollars- ten of which was received from the Bureau, through Genl. Thomas, Sub Asst. Comis, on which they have been using every effort to build a school house but have not yet succeeded for want of sufficient funds. They have the building under way. Their estimate is as following, viz
4500 for Lumber at $16.00 per thou. $72.00
70 lbs nails $5.60
5000 shingles $20.00
Glap & Hardwarde $10.00
Bill of work $65.00
Total $172.60

Of this amount they have collected $65.00
If any assistance can be afforded them, it will be gratefully received, and properly used. Size of house 20 x 24 feet.
