and suited in every way for their purposes, as the same cost - that it would take to refit - their old house. Half of that amount could be raised among the freed. people themselves if the balance could be secured among their friends. They would be grateful for any assistance the government could render them. At Pattonsburg, Botetourt County, on the other side of the River from Buchanan, 25 scholars could be gathered at a private house, provided they were furnished with a teacher. These however could enter the Buchanan School, were there sufficient accommodations in their School Building. At Locust Bottom, Botetourt County, the freedmen are very anxious to secure the services of a colored teacher, this place has been entirely neglected, as it is located in the extreme northern part of the county. They have a good School House 30 x 40 feet, and can furnish 40 pupils. They will gladly board the teacher, and make the School House every way comfortable. Also a large Sunday School can be gathered. I submit this case as claiming special attention.
At Brooksville, Botetourt County, a day school can be collected of from 24 to 30 scholars - 50 day and night - Sunday School 30 to 50. They have a good House, 14x29 feet - entire property owned by the Freedmen. Are prepared to open school at once.
