Law board a white or colored teacher. Mr Banister "leold" taught there the past year. In some way connected with the Philada. Branch, Freedmen's Union Commisioner. They are very anxious to he supplied with a teacher as soon as possible.
At Cloverdale, Botetourt County, I found a school of 25 Scholars taught by Samuel U Scott "Col"(formerly assisted by the same Philada. Society, through their superintendent Mr. Lloyd.) They have a House and lot of their own, but not finished for winter. It is neither ceiled or plastered, and is very much open. They are still in debt for the purchases already made, but are paying off as fast as they can. Carpenters estimate for work and material to place it in good order, amounts to $100. The School no doubt could be doubled during the fall and winter months, if they have suitable accommodations. They will feel grateful for any assistance that can be rendered them. Sunday School number 35 Scholar.
Miscellaneous = Miss Wadsworth, Teacher at Natural Bridges, Rockbridge County, expects to leave shortly for Burksville, and the people are very anxious to secure another teacher in her place. House 16 X 16 feet and owned by the Freedmen, but needs some little repairs to make it comfortable for the winter - at a cost of about twenty five dollars. Day School 42 Registered pupils - Sabbath School over 50 Scholars.
