Fairfax County Va May 19th 1869

Capt O F B Wall
Sir
You requested to know the average number of my pupils the time I commenced, During the winter and the first Spring month the average attendance was from 39 to 46. My first term began the first of January, and ended the last of March. The present term commenced the first of April would have ended the last of June but as the pupils most of them are oblige to quit school for the present and go to work, I do not expect to teach any longer than the last of May.
The scholars appear to progress quite fast but not as rapid as they might, their parent not being able to furnish them with sufficient school utensils.
Our Sunday School is yet progressing.
I have nothing of interest more to inform you of our school at present.

Very Respectfully

E. A. Henry
