BUREAU R. F. AND A. L.
Office Superintendent of Education, Virginia,
Richmond, Va., June 10th 1869.

Bvt: Brig: Gen'l. Geo. W. Balloch
Chf. D.O.

General,
Your check for $1579 30/100 was received this morning.

It will be necessary for me to send checks to the various parties in the state from whom buildings &c are rented. To do this it will require checks, which I find can only be obtained by purchase. The "State Journal" will print one thousand checks, and bind them in book form for about eleven dollars. How must I obtain them?

I have deposited the money in the First Natl Bank of Richmond, and shall make my checks on that Bank.

I am, General
very respectfully
your obt. Servant
R.M. Manly
Supt. of Education
