Dear Sir:
Your letter of June 29th to Rev. E. F. Hatfield D.D. New York, inquiring after missing school reports, has been referred to me with the request that I supply them from my files. I herewith send the desired reports. I have no Bureau blanks, and each report is in manuscript.

I was quite sure that I had given each of the Bureau Ed. officers in this Dept. lists of our teachers, and was under the impression that blanks were being sent there monthly. Had I known they were not receiving them and making out, under the rule, I should have instructed them to apply for blanks.

By way of apology I may add that some of our teachers have not been in the field long enough to become familiar with freedmen teaching, and hence mistakes and seeming delinquencies. I shall see that further trouble (to you) of this kind does not arise.
