Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, 
Washington, D.C., Nov 9th, 1869. 

By direction of the secretary of War, Sam'l H. Jones is hereby appointed Asst Supt of Education in the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, at Richmond Va, at a salary of One hundred dollars per month.  
This appointment is made under the provisions of "An Act to continue in force and amend an Act to establish a Bureau for the relief of Freedmen and Refugees, and for other purposes." It will take effect Dec 16th, 1869 and remain in force until revoked by orders from this Office. 
The oath required by law will be taken, and filed in the office of the Commissioner.
