with all this unnecessary inflaming of Church jealousy of the school.
There need be no difficulty, and would be none if there was a fair chance for a School meeting. But the Church assumes all control, (that is these few bigoted members who overawe the rest) and suffer the school to hold which days as they see fit.

Now at last, I come to the real ground of trouble. There is no title secured to the land on which the school house is built and there is a debt due on the building to parties here - of $200. If this could be paid, I believe the deed would be got instantly for the school.

The piece of ground belongs to an estate of heirs, that were minors at the time, it was sold by order of Commissioners.

The deed as I understand it, can be given by an order from the Judge of the Superior Court - which holds the last of this month. at Heathsville

The Freedman, Thornton Parkes, who holds the scrap of paper promising a deed, when Wheeler gets one himself proves treacherous to the School, and openly declares he will do us all the harm
