True Coppy of a deed from Isaac Newton To Emley A. Rodney

This deed made this 13th day of Dec'r in the year 1869 between Isaac Newton (surviving partner of Jno & Isaac Newton & Emley A Rodney witnesseth that the said Isaac Newton doth in consideration of three hundred dollars with general warrantee of title unto the said Emley A. Rodney for school & church purposis for the Freedman all the following lot or parcel of land situate in The county of Augusta on the south [[strikethrough]] sudstof [[/strikethrough]] side of Greenville containing ten & one half square poles and bounded as follows vis

Beginning at a stake on wagoners line thence N. 34 ot 3 poles & 11 links to a stake corner to Newton S. 53 ot 3 poles & 4 links to a stake S. 35 oSn 3 poles & 8 links to the edge of the road & with the same N. 53 NN. 3 poles &  3 links to the beginning witness the following signatures & seals signed by Isaac Newton surviving partner of Jno & Isaac Newton 27th day of Decm 1869.

Howard & Board of the Freedman beaurow this is the coppy of the deed you Would like to see the Building cost us one thousand & $75 Dollars and we yet off owe for a hundred & $25 dollars we have strugel therefore and will be glead if you Would help us out the freedman is very Poor here and has had no help but what I have done there no school here untill I opin one last winter at my own expense We had a large school last winter over 50 and bid fair for good one this Winter as soon as the Building is done the Work man
