Articles of agreement between David Carlisle of the one part and Alfred Fox and Franklin Young and James Field of the other part, all of the County of Loudoun + State of Virginia. Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the hereinafter mentioned monies the said Carlisle binds himself to build on the lands of said Young (the part where the school is to stand has been deeded to trustees) a frame schoolhouse 25 by 30 ft long 10 ft high one door + 8 windows, 12 lights, glass to be 10x12, one floor a good roof of short shingles, also to make + place in said schoolhouse good + substantial seats for the use of the scholars
The house to be hoarded at 2 down + stripped. The said Carlisle to furnish all the materials of every kind + to do all the joiners work in a good and workmanlike manner + furnish his own board also his hands. 
The said Alfred Fox, Franklin Young + James Field obligate themselves to pay Five Hundred  Dollars to said Carlisle for the above house as described at such times as said Carlisle may need money to by materials + pay hands + further said Carlishe binds himself to finish his part of said house by the 20th Day of May 1870
