Office Superintendent of Education, Virginia
Richmond, Va., March 5th, 1870

Bvt. Major Gen'l O.O. Howard U.S.A
Commissioner,

General,

I have the honor to request information as to whether the deed of lot of ground at Charlottesville, VA by Cabell to Trustees for erection of a school house thereon, was found amongst the Bureau records for Va.

I requested that search might be made for it, when is Washington, about the 1st of this month.

Respectfully
R.M. Manly
Supt of Ed

Transcription Notes:
It's Bvt. Major Gen'l - Short for Brevet Major General - his rank. I wasn't sure what to make of the two letters after the major's name. and didn't know who to type the weird space in between "Charlottesville VA by" and the unknown word right after it. Thank you! No need to fill the space. We're just providing the text as it is written.
