606. BUREAU R.F. and A.L. Office Superintendent of Education, Virginia, Richmond, Va., April 12th 1870 Bvt. Brig. Genl. Geo W. Balloch Chf D.O. General, By S.O. 24, C.S. War Dept, Office Chf Q.M. Bureau RF&AL, I am ordered to sell certain buildings at Farmville, Va, and to "take up and account for the proceeds of sale, and forward the proper money papers to the Chf D.O.," The buildings have been sold, and I have the money $208.50/100 amount, less auctioneer's fee. Must I turn the money over to you? I suppose I am to make an account current for "Refugees & Freedmens Fund"- If I transfer the money to you, I can close the money papers in the same month I take up the money. Yours respectfully R.M.
