Dear Dol & Nick,

Next week we will move into the above address. It is a 2- family house (1 to a floor), called a villa, in a quiet part of town near the university, opposite one of the town's several casernes or barracks (being on the Rhine this town is full of military establishments, an officers' training school etc.), & very close to 2 of the city's several canals.

We will pay about $75 a month including heat and utilities for a huge place: 2 bedrooms, a balcony, a [[strikethrough]] boo [[/strikethrough]] study, [[strikethrough]] or [[/strikethrough]] a kitchen (with table to eat on), a huge hall, a large bathroom & separate W.C. & [[strikethrough]] an [[/strikethrough]] a truly grand dining room with a chandelier & velvet drapes. The apartment formerly belonged to the mother of the landlord & had much of the family furniture, plates, dishes & Silverware, pots & pans, vacuum cleaner & brooms, even an iron, as well as a large radio.
