Before going any further I want to congratulate Nick for having succeeded in getting his exams behind him! It is wonderful to lose that nagging continual worry and need to study, which was with us until this last year of [[strikethrough]]his [[strikethrough]] Jack's stay at U of I, I know it well.

Strasbourg is a small city, of about 200,000 people but with many apartment houses and not many villas, so that it doesn't stretch out very far, tho' there are 4-5 suburbs. It is laced with canals, some of which are used for conveying goods (system connects with the Rhine). Jack's Institut is a set of brand new and attractive buildings in the middle of some fields in a suburb. It is very simply and cheaply built, and the heating does not look adequate by our standard, the majority of some being without radiators.
