Dear Mother,

We are leaving Paris tomorrow morning, & may arrive in Strasbourg tomorrow or the next day. It is only 240 miles but we must cross Paris & the roads are not supposed to be very fast.

We have received what you sent: the degree, the bank statements, two letters, car papers,[[strikethrough]] etc [[/strikethrough]] the check, etc.

Yesterday we picked up the car and drove it to Montmartre. The traffic was not bad, altho' some unexpected detours fouled us up a bit. We placed the car in a garage for two days. We were allotted gas coupons at 20% discount (will last ~ 1/2 year) and purchased some for the trip. Gas comes out then about 60ยข/gal. One of the interesting things about French traffic is the "priorite' du droit". What it started out as was like our American system of allowing the man on the right at an intersection to proceed when 2 cars arrive at the same time.
