Well, we weren't quite satisfied with the touch of the machine I picked up this morning, so I went out again this afternoon and found the model I'm writing on now -- a better touch, tabs etc and $15 dollars cheaper. The type faces aren't quite as good but the touch and price difference seemed significant enough. So this one is for keeps and we have two typewriters until school opens and a better market is around.

Jack has been busy fixing up our old camera, the one Grandpa gave us. When we come east it will hold the black and white film for portrait work. Altogether this day has been devoted to machines and their fixings! I must get off and do a little translating.

It is warm again but not hot, so that it is comfortable indoors. We haven't been swimming yet this week but expect to stop off at the Lipkin's (he is finishing up his sabbatical at Argonne Labs outside Chicago) en route to Chicago; there is a swimming pool at the Labs we can use.

I don't know whether we will arrive before the 3rd or not but you'd better leave a key there in case we do.

Well, I'd better get off to work.

Love
Doris
