thunderclouds were still scattered about in the setting sun, and the freshness everywhere was most beautiful. We got two geological survey maps of Champaign and Urbana recently; they contain woods, ponds, gravel pits, houses, creeks, everything, and 1957 to boot. Sunday we explored 4 features of the map, saw a strange shore bird at one (like plover but with turned-up spikey tail, no spots), many spring flowers, and several local garbage pits, took pictures of several features (excluding the last). This week end we may camp somewhere. The Rogers did last week end, the baby behaving very well.
Jack has been writing a good deal lately. This paper for publication might turn out to be an outline for his thesis.
It has been very hot lately - 90 or so and humid. Our apartment is fairly cool, fortunately, & we have not yet had to haul out the fan yet.
Jack was quite amused at the story of all the people standing up on one side of the boat. I guess it reminded him of the behavior of the people who bought our boat.
Well - off we go -

Love,
Doris
