runs from June 15 to August 8. Exams end June 5.

We don't know, of course, when Jack will get his degree. Marguerite tends to be ever optimistic about such things. Probably he will be there [[strikethrough] in [[/strikethrough]] by a year from this June (although he doesn't have to get the degree at the end of a semester). By next fall he should start interviewing. The DeWits are very busy doing that now. Almost every week he or they fly off to some place to talk with colleges or companies. They were in Washington, will be in California this week end! Apparently the job situation is tightening up somewhat; they are high-honor students and still having difficulties.

We have finished the Turgenev story and are beginning Tolstoy's "The Cossacks" today. Now we cover ~10 pages a meeting regularly.

The cat of the apartment next door keeps getting into the vivarium (iron fence) & trying to get the ducks and geese; of course they merely get on the pond. Then he tries to get out again & can't, a sad sight.
