Mr. Alan M. Oster,
500 Fifth Ave. ,
New York, N.Y. 10036.

Dear Mr. Oster:

Thank you for the check for the funeral expenses.

I have already sent you the cancelled checks made out to Doris. From my register of checks I am copying the following on checks after May 10, 1968:
Jan. 12, 69: $[[3800?]]. Dec. 20,70,$15. Aug. 17,71:$25. July 8,72.$50. [[strikethrough]]Aug* 17,71* $25 [[/strikethrough]] Sept. 2, 72:$300. Dec. 25,72;$100. June 25,73:$150. July 1,73:$150. July 14,73:$200. Dec. 25.73:$100.

Besides these checks I gave Doris the bank book for my account in the First Federal Savings and Loan of Washington, which was in both our names (as all my accounts were). It was at the time when she was having that depression in which she could not work, and I told her to draw upon that bank when she needed money to get along. I don't have my record of how much she withdrew.

Dean Gardner has called on me several times for money which I have sent him. The last time, about 3 weeks ago, he wanted $250 to go back to Detroit from where he came. I sent checks for that amount 3 times to him but he never received them and I had them cancelled. If he is still in N.Y. would you give him that $250 from any that I am going to get from Doris? I pity the poor fellow, but I hope that when he goes to Detroit I shall not hear from him again.

Sincerely yours,
