Contract for Labour

This indenture made this & entered into on the 13th day of January 1866 between Carter Pope of the County of Edgcomb State of North Carolina of the first part and the undersigned Labourers of the second part
Witnesseth that the said labourers have agreed to work for the said Carter Pope from the 13th January 1866 to the first January 1867 to do all kind of labour comon to the farms of the county to do their work faithfully & to be respectful in their deportment, and they further agree that one half of this years proffits shall be theirs at the end of the present year, and the said labourers farther agree [[strikethrough]] agree [[/strikethrough]] that the whole amt shall be forfeited in case they violate the above contract
The said labourers are to furnish their own rations & clothing the said Pope is to furnish all necessary teams and working implements and find the teams, and to treat them, the labourers kindly.
