Contract for Labor

This Indenture made & entered with this [[strikethrough]] Feby [[/strikethrough]] Jany 10th 1866 believer A. C. Taylor of the Country & State of North Carolina and Doctor Taylor Freedman formerly the slave of A. Taylor of said state both parties being from Edgecombe County in said state. Witnesseth that said Doctor Taylor the the second part agrees to & with said party of the first to work upon a plantation upon his [[strikethrough]] which he is to place him [[/strikethrough]] - That he is to bring upon that plantation as labourers the following hands whose names are hereunto subscribed & who bind their salary by [[strikethrough]] themselves [[/strikethrough]] their subscriptions, be for his children & himself & the others by their own subscription to perform all the duties of a well regulated plantation. That they are to be obedient, and loose all time that they take - that in case of absence without leave in protracted illness no pay is to be received.
The party of the first part agrees with the parties of the second part to furnish comfortable quarters and to treat them kindly, for the laborers, to furnish provisions train for the cultivation of the farm implements. After the entire expenses of the farm are paid for the year 1866 for which said A. C. Tayler is now only able to advance the said party of the second shall divide the balance with
