Contract for Labor
This indenture made and entered into on the first day of Jany 1866 between Thos P Braswell of the County of Nash & state of N Carolina of the first part and the undersigned Freed laborers for him self and Four children namely Richard 18 years old Masin 15 Henry 13 Nelson 9 years old of the second part
Witnesseth that the said Laborers Have agreed to work for the Said Thos P Braswell From the first day of Jany 1866 to the first day Jany 1867 To do all kind of work common to the Farmers of the County To do there work Faithfully and To be Respectful in There deportmentand They further agree that one half of there monthly pay shall be retained by the Said Thos P Braswell untill the End of the year and that the amount So Retained shall be forfeited by a voi [crossed out]]o[[/crossed out]]lation of This contract 
And they further agree that time lost by idleness or by absence without lapse shall not be paid For and the said Thos P Braswell Has agreed that he will furnish the said laborers

You would think [[lapse]] would be [[leave]] in the context, but it's unclear A lot of words where you would expect the writer to use lower case but it instead appears to be upper case. Handwriting peculiarity or capitalisation on purpose?
