The following is an agreement entered into between William Thigpen of the first part and Nero Braddy and William Moore and others whose names are hereunto inscribed below.
1st The said William Thigpen has this day hired Nero Braddy, William Moore and his son George, Allen Cobb, Gray Thigpen, Mose Thigpen and [[unknown]] Thigpen of his mother, freedmen to work on his farm and plantation during the year 1866, and is to [[unknown]] and [[unknown]] to just them, and rations at 4 1/2 pork or its equivalent and one peck meal per week to each hand, and implements necessary to carry on the farm or his part.
2nd The said Nero and others above named are to work early and late under the directions of the said Thigpen or his agent all kinds of work necessary for improving and keeping the farm and plantation during the year 1866.
3rd All the tools used by said hands are to be returned to the said Thigpen at the end of the year 1866 or to be paid for out of their share of the products from said farm.
4th If any of the above named hands shall maltreat or damage [[unknown]] horse or oxen, he shall pay the damages out of his or her share of the
