said farm. And further if any of them shall refuse to do his duty of labor on said plantation, he shall be dismissed and forfeit what he may have done or labored and another shall be hired in his place and shall be paid out of the share or shares forfeited, and after paying him or them; if any shall remain, it shall be divided between the hands remaining.

5 When the crop is finished and saved, the hands above are to have one fourth of all the corn cotton, peas, fodder & one eighth of the wheat saved.

Now Therefore We the said Thigpen on his part and Nero Braddy and other freedmen of their part, do 
hereby bind ourselves & heirs faithfully to carry out in good faith the above contract or agreement, In witness whereof we have here unite set our hands & seals on caused them to be at the day & date above written and signed in the presence of.
