This indenture made and entering into on this 1st day of Jany 1866 between M J & G C Battle of the first part & the undersigned laborer of the second part - 
Witnesseth that the said laborers agreed to work for the said M J & G C Battle from the 1st day of Jany 1866 to the 1st day of Jany 1867 to commence work soon after light in the morning & to quit at dark at night with a sufficient interval at noon to eat their dinner. To do any kind of work done on farms, to do their work faithfully & to be respectful their deportment And they further agree that two thirds of their wages shall be retained by the said M J & G C Battle until the term of service shall have expired which wages they agree to forfeit in the event of a revocation of this contract and they further agree that all time lost by any cause whatever shall be deducted from their wages And the said M J & G C Battle have agreed to furnish the said laborers with the amount of money per month which stand opposite their names -
